2024 Impact Report
Creating as much good as possible in the communities we visit and providing meaningful experiences to our travelers — all while protecting the planet

Our impact in Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic
Each year, we track the impact our travelers have with our partners on projects we’ve worked closely with members of those communities to develop and build on year after year.
Our reporting continues to improve and we’re excited to share the outcomes of Offbeat’s community service projects in 2024

Student volunteers who contributed to projects
Community service hours contributed by student volunteers
Dollars allocated to community service projects
Offbeat allocated more than $103,000 for projects in 2024
Housing
For years, Offbeat has contributed to housing rehabilitation projects in bateyes, communities of sugarcane workers and their families in the Dominican Republic. that included painting, pouring cement floors and building latrines.
In 2024, Offbeat Travel allocated enough money to build an entire house for a local family! We hope to continue this work in 2025 by building multiple houses and fundraise based on elements of the house those contributions will fund. Help us build houses next year by contributing from the amounts listed below.

United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
Our community service outcomes are aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, a "shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future.”
The United Nations General Assembly is working to address the 17 goals, which focus on creating an equitable and sustainable future, by 2030. We’re doing our part to contribute to that effort in Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic.
In 2025, we expanded on what we started in 2024, 2023 and 2022 by increasing our impact in the partner communities where our student volunteers serve. Continue reading below for examples of how Offbeat service projects contributed to nine of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals while also serving local community members in the places we take travelers.

Your dedication and enthusiasm have made a significant difference...
I want to express my gratitude to all the students and Program Leaders who joined our mission. Your dedication and enthusiasm have made a significant difference in the places of the program you lead. Each project and program we worked on, from planting trees to improving school facilities, has been a step toward a world where people can start thinking collectively instead of individually.
Moreover, the connections we’ve created are truly invaluable. The friendships between international and local program leaders create a lasting impact that goes beyond the duration of our projects. These interactions create cultural exchange and provide personal growth. As we move forward, I look forward to continuing to meet with our community partners and continue building rapport and expanding our initiatives to reach even more communities.
