Careers at Offbeat Travel

Build your career with a team that's creating equity in travel while investing in your professional growth along the way

Our Culture

Working at Offbeat

At Offbeat Travel, above all, we believe in an inclusive space where all feel welcomed regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or any identity.

We are passionate about the transformative power of travel and want to create a world where it is accessible to all while ensuring the local population is treated fairly and equitably.

We like to travel

We like to take the dirt road as far as it goes, and then some. We believe that learning happens at the edge of our comfort zone and like to push ourselves closer and closer to it.

We love feedback

We know we are good at what we do, but we also know we can improve and want to learn how. We are open to and actively seek out feedback from our staff, clients, and partners.

We are not a family; we are a team

We work hard together toward our mission, but we know employees often grow beyond our organization. We support them in that growth. Calling our team a family feels disingenuous, and we don't like disingenuous.

Benefits and development

Seasonal staff training

Our yearly seasonal staff training prepares staff for working directly with travelers. During this week-long training, staff learn best practices in safety and risk management, traveler impact, community impact, managing group dynamics, managing incidents, and more.

Wilderness First Responder training

The Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification provides training in wilderness medicine, leadership, and critical thinking for working in outdoor, low-resource, and remote environments.

Professional development

We strive to be forever students. We work with our staff so they can expand their knowledge of the areas we travel to and the critical issues facing those communities. We support our staff in their professional growth by providing opportunities to learn other languages, work across cultures, and acquire transferable skills. When our staff want to take the next step in their career, we support them in that growth.

The perks

We take care of our team so they can take care of our travelers. Here's what we offer.

  • Competitive and transparent pay
  • Generous PTO and vacation packages
  • Parental leave
  • Hybrid work options
  • Health care and/or travel insurance
  • Travel opportunities
  • Meals, lodging, and transportation covered while leading or visiting programs

Net promoter score

We measure our NPS among our staff quarterly to gauge how our staff perceive our company culture and how it can improve. As of September 2023, our NPS for seasonal staff is 92.2 and 100 for our full-time team!

What our employees say

Hear from past and present team members about what it's like to work at Offbeat Travel

A dream job.

My favorite summers have one thing in common: spending them working for Offbeat Travel. The team, the travelers, the local communities and the places we visit made my job a dream. Offbeat gave me the chance to go places, do what I love and meet like minded travelers who wanted to make an impact, who I now get to call friends.

Being part of Offbeat is more than a conventional job, is a transformative and unforgettable experience, where you have the opportunity to be who you are and be able to create a positive impact in the life of others, during my trips and programs I meet people and places with amazing stories that marked who I am and how I think now.
