San Juan and La Parguera
Nine days of culture, coastal adventure, and natural wonders from Old San Juan to Puerto Rico's southern shore

Old San Juan to the Bioluminescent Bay
Culture and History Across the Island
This program spans Puerto Rico from north to south. In Old San Juan, your group walks the cobblestone streets of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, learning the island's history from Taíno roots through Spanish colonization to modern-day Puerto Rico. A day in Loíza, the heart of Puerto Rico's Afro-Boricua culture, includes a Bomba dance and percussion workshop led by local artists and community leaders. The drive south stops in Guavate for the Ruta del Lechón and in Ponce, the "Pearl of the South," before settling into the quieter pace of La Parguera on the southern coast. A salsa class in San Juan rounds out the cultural immersion.

Coastal Adventures and Natural Wonders
The La Parguera days are built around the water. A full-day catamaran excursion to the mangrove islands and coral keys off the coast combines snorkeling, swimming, and marine ecology. An evening boat ride to La Parguera's bioluminescent bay, where microscopic organisms light up the water with every movement, is one of Puerto Rico's rarest natural experiences. The program also includes a day in Cabo Rojo for hiking the National Wildlife Refuge, visiting Los Morrillos Lighthouse, and beach time at Playa Sucia and Buyé. A full-day excursion to El Yunque National Forest, the only tropical rainforest in the U.S. National Forest System, closes out the adventure days.
