How we capture and share the story of travel

How We Approach Photography

The images on this site come from real experiences in real communities. They are taken by professional photographers who travel with us, by our staff, by the educators and families who join our programs, and by the community members who welcome us. We believe photography should reflect travel as it actually happens, not as marketing wants it to look.

Every image we share tells a story about a place and the people in it. We think carefully about how those stories are told. Who is centered in the frame matters. Whether a person is positioned as an active participant or a passive subject matters. Whether the image reflects dignity, context, and the full picture of a community matters.

Our Photography Guidelines ask travelers and staff to approach photography with respect and intention, using it as a tool to uplift and tell positive stories. These guidelines are part of our broader commitment to responsible interactions, including a child protection policy that governs how our travelers and staff interact with minors and how we look out for the wellbeing of children in every community we visit. Learn more about our approach to responsible travel.

We do not use AI-generated images. On rare occasions, we use stock photography to show a destination or activity we have not yet photographed ourselves, and only when the image is truthful to the location and experience.

What our travelers say

Real experiences from real travelers

A dream job.

My favorite summers have one thing in common: spending them working for Offbeat Travel. The team, the travelers, the local communities and the places we visit made my job a dream. Offbeat gave me the chance to go places, do what I love and meet like minded travelers who wanted to make an impact, who I now get to call friends.

Andrea Bravo
Program Leader, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Costa Rica

More than a conventional job.

Being part of Offbeat is more than a conventional job, is a transformative and unforgettable experience, where you have the opportunity to be who you are and be able to create a positive impact in the life of others, during my trips and programs I meet people and places with amazing stories that marked who I am and how I think now.

I loved being a part of the Offbeat Travel team! I've never felt such a strong feeling of belonging than I did on the team. Harry pushes the team to strive for excellence and constantly improve, and at the same fosters a really strong work community. Working for Offbeat is a personal and professional experience I'll value forever.

I cannot imagine traveling with another company.

I can not imagine traveling with another company. This is my third time working with Offbeat to create a meaningful travel and service experience for high school students. Offbeat’s attention to detail, flexibility with planning, and true commitment to each traveler is what sets this company apart. The guides are amazing! Informative, personable, and committed to excellence. We loved the food, loved the people, and can not wait to go back!

A deep commitment to traveler safety.

As one of Cornerstone’s earliest members, Offbeat has consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to traveler safety, staff development, and the ongoing evolution of its risk management systems. Their willingness to invest in thoughtful planning, transparent communication, and continuous improvement reflects the standard we encourage across our community. It’s no surprise that many Cornerstone members choose Offbeat as their trusted local operator throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. The confidence they’ve built within the travel industry is grounded in professionalism, operational excellence, and a shared belief that meaningful experiences and strong safety practices go hand in hand.
