Evergreen Coverage and Current NewsOur "evergreen" coverage of the destinations and hotels is balanced by our press release section, This Just In..., that provides up-to-date information on new developments in the travel field including new services, exhibits, and other time-sensitive information. Our professional journalists provide destination guides, travelogues, and insight into places to explore around the world, often content that is not available anywhere else on the internet. The articles written by our professional contributors are exclusive to OffbeatTravel.com. We work closely with some of the top PR firms to bring up-to-date information to our readers. We also give special attention to the press releases of destinations and groups that have hosted our contributors. We bring these articles and press releases to readers and potential readers through careful use of social media, using twitter (as @offbeattravel), facebook (we have our own offbeattravel.com page), our in-house newsletter, RSS feed, RebelMouse page and Pinterest. As of July, 2015 we have over 6900 followers (and growing daily) on twitter and 800 to 1000 readers per day of our RSS feed.
Audience and TrafficOur unique visitors vary throughout the year with winter being our relatively slow season. Nonetheless, in December, 2014 we had almost 76K unique visitors and, we're happy to announce that in June, 2015 we broke our traffic records with 94,878 unique visitors viewing over 7000 pages of professionally written, sophisticated articles.
We have a mozRank of 5 (mozRank is on a scale of 1 to 10 and is SEOmoz's 10-point measure of link authority and popularity. It's similar to the old Google Page Rank).
What Others Say About UsIn December, 2010 - TravelSiteCritic.com published their review of OffbeatTravel.com and it's glowing. Offbeat Travel is an excellent travel blog. Go there. What else can we say without either writing a book length review or leaving something out? They did note that we should have a facebook page and a better twitter following. We agree. We now have both. In March, 2011 IgoUgo (now Travelocity) named OffbeatTravel to its Best of Travel directory. As of April, 2014 we were ranked 48th in the top hundred Travel Blog Sites on TravelPod and as 49th of the Top 150 General Travel blogs for unique monthly visitors on Blog Rank. That same site also ranked us in the top 150 for the number of pages indexed by Google, and Top General Travel blogs by the number of incoming links.
