From November 26-28, December 3-5 and December 10-12, Hamshushalayim--"Hamshush" is Hebrew vernacular for the long Israeli weekend from Thursday to Saturday--will provide travelers with free entry to a number of tourist and cultural attractions in the city, including the Israel Museum, the Bible Lands Museum, the Museum of Italian Jewish Art, the Museum of Islamic Art, the Tower of David Museum, the City of David, and the Jerusalem Science Museum.

Each weekend will feature live performances, attractions and activities at venues around Jerusalem, including an a capella concert at the Shrine of the Book, live jazz at the Davidson Center, opera at the Museum of Italian Jewish Art and special street performances on Alrov Mamilla Boulevard.

"Hamshushalayim highlights the long-standing Israeli tradition of weekend entertainment," says Arie Sommer, Commissioner of Tourism, North and South America, "and will bring additional excitement to the winter weekends in Jerusalem."

The festival will also cater to gourmands traveling to Israel, with the city's leading restaurants, cafes and pubs offering prix fixe menus, in addition to a Happy Hour on Saturday evenings. Also, a young designers' fair at Ma'abada and various musical events for children will be held around the city.
