How to Visit the Isle of Wright

With the Isle of Wight having some of the best beaches in Britain as well as historic Victorian architecture all alongside some of quaintest English villages, it is the perfect place for a day out. The question is -- how to get there?
There are several ways to cross to the Isle of Wright. Traditional ferry service is available. Another, more unusual form of transportation is by hovercraft.

Hovertravel avows that it provides the fastest Isle of Wight ferry service across the Solent and is the world’s longest running commercial hovercraft operator. The trip is between the Ryde Esplanade Terminal and the Portsmouth/Southsea Terminal. The service takes passengers directly to the shore at Portsmouth or Ryde for easy onward travel by Hoverbus at Portsmouth, bus and train connections at Ryde and large car parks at both terminals.

Hovertravel's service is a speedy 10 minute flight across The Solent to the Isle of Wight, which means from London to the Island is a journey of just 1 hour and 45 minutes. The Hovertravel terminal is linked to London via several transport options including trains and the Greyhound coach service which departs directly outside the Hovertravel terminal.

Neil Chapman, managing director of Hovertravel, explains, "For any Americans visiting Europe, the quick flight on our hovercraft is a truly unique and enjoyable experience. We regularly welcome visitors from around the world who have travelled many miles to witness this iconic British invention."
