Riding for Dollars

Arizona Cowboy College is a family owned and operated business in the north part of Scottsdale, Arizona. Scottsdale, at one time, was popularly known as “The West’s Most Western Town.” In operation since 1969 as a dude ranch, the first session of Cowboy College was in 1989. The College is run by Lori Bridwell, wife of the late Lloyd Bridwell. Lloyd Bridwell died in April 2000. The senior instructor is Rocco Wachman who developed a serious curriculum and subject matter to make Arizona Cowboy College more than just another dude ranch. The Arizona Cowboy College has been featured on NBC’s Today Show, CBS’s Sunday Morning, ABC’s Good Morning America, and on many other television shows, as well as being covered by local, national, and international media.

The school claims to be able to take a person who has never touched a horse before and have them riding in a few days later. As of 2009, the cost for a one-week session is $2,250.
