Kahler Glen Resort Draws Winter Sports Enthusiasts

Mother-of-Pearl hued skies, awash with powdery crystalline flakes drift silently down on Washington's Cascade Mountains. Ancient evergreen trees blanketed in snow stand sentinel over frozen lakes and forested hillsides. Cross-country skiers glide quietly through this winter paradise, marveling at the vast, shimmering beauty of Lake Wenatchee. As the late afternoon shadows grow, skiers journey back to Kahler Glen Resort to sit by a warm fire and revisit the day's escapades.
Kahler Glen Resort, located on the Eastern side of the Cascade Mountains, resides on the perimeter of beautiful Lake Wenatchee. This quiet resort is comprised of two-room condominiums that cater to cross-country skiers in the winter and golfers in the spring to fall seasons. There are 20 to 30 privately owned condominiums available for guests to rent. Each unit is uniquely decorated with two bedrooms, a fireplace, two bathrooms, a full kitchen, living room and breathtaking views from a patio or balcony. The mature surrounding wooded hills set a spectacular backdrop for the resort in summer and winter.

The resort is fairly secluded and positioned next to three sides of state park and forest where development is prohibited. Several Jacuzzi spas are available for guests throughout the year, located outside next to the condo units. The Jacuzzis, housed in gazebo type structures, are an incredible feature, especially during the winter season. After a long day of skiing, taking a bubbly warm Jacuzzi and watching the snowfall in a serene and wooded setting is glorious. During the sunnier months, the resort's tennis court is open to guests as well.

In addition to the condo rentals, Kahler Glen offers several other accommodations for guests, such as townhouses, retreat houses, private homes and lodges. There are numerous vacation specials and the resort caters to golf and ski parties, family reunions, tournaments and small or large groups as well. Check Kahler Glen's website listed below for current specials.

Kahler Glen is not only a fabulous golf and groomed track cross-country ski resort, but is also the gateway to the Cascades and is literally on the doorstep of the national forest. Activities year-round include: ice fishing, boating, hiking, rock climbing, downhill skiing at Stevens Pass, horse-drawn sleigh rides and even inner-tubing on the Wenatchee River in late August. Trout fishing is a big draw and located two miles north of Kahler Glen Resort is the popular Fish Lake.

Photo by Patrice Raplee Lake Wenatchee State Park, adjacent to the resort, is great for activities in any season and is groomed for cross-country skiing. Snow Park Permits are required for vehicles (either daily or yearly in winter months), but are easily and inexpensively obtained at local markets close to the resort and lake. The state park provides multiple ski trails that meander past rivers, creeks and the lake itself. The sparkling winter beauty of the park is magnificent and un-crowded even during the chilly season. Don't forget to bring your camera. For additional information on Lake Wenatchee, visit www.parks.wa.gov.

With all of the activities on and around the resort, appetites need appeasing and the Kahler Glen Restaurant is just footsteps away from your resort accommodations. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and features a variety of tasty dishes and entrees. The breakfast menu is especially luscious and the gourmet French toast is a must! Located next to the restaurant is the Pro Shop where you can rent or purchase golf and cross-country ski equipment for all ages.

If you desire a choice in restaurants, the Bavarian-themed city of Leavenworth is only 30 miles away and offers a multitude of dining options and a host of shopping and tourist activities.

The Northwest offers many great resorts, but Kahler Glen is special in its location and unspoiled beauty. The condos are comfortable, tastefully decorated and scrupulously clean with beautiful views and a friendly and unobtrusive management. Therefore, if your interests involve outdoor sports and recreation, or a romantic secluded getaway for two, Kahler Glen is the perfect resort for your adventures.
